Computer Recycling Made Easy

Computers are vital machines in today’s world. However, like any appliance, they have a limited shelf life. Computers contain chemicals that can damage the environment if not disposed of properly. Recycling your various computer parts such as servers, monitors (including LCD monitors), routers, modems, laptops and tablets can prevent these chemicals from polluting our air and water. When a system reaches its end, you need to understand how to dispose of it correctly.

What Computer Parts/Accessories Do You Accept?

We recycle many computer-related items, including:

  • Desktop Computers (flat screen monitors have a $2.00 charge when dropped off.)
  • Laptops & Notebooks
  • Servers & Networking Equipment
  • Computer Accessories
    • Keyboards
    • Mice
    • Monitors

Please note that there are some items we cannot accept due to safety or regulatory reasons. Contact us for more information.

How To Prepare My Computer for Recycling

Before you recycle your computer all you need to do is simply backup your computer. If you have important information stored on your computer or files or programs you want to keep, make a backup copy. You can use an external hard drive or USB. There is no need to erase or wipe your computer, we handle that for you!

Why Do I Need To Recycle My Old Computer?

Computers that end up in a landfill will contaminate the environment. These complex machines’ raw materials and components contain flame retardants, toxins, and lead; all of these substances can leach into groundwater or disperse toxic fumes in a fire.

Those same chemicals that cause health issues for people can affect plants and animals. With chemicals like arsenic and cadmium, it is easy to understand how dangerous the repercussions of traditional disposal patterns can be.

Can I Throw Away a Computer Battery or Charger?

No, you cannot throw away a computer battery or charger. Your computer uses a lithium-ion battery that contains a variety of chemicals that can negatively affect the environment. Most areas have laws against improper disposal. We accept these items, and we ensure they are correctly recycled.

Data Security & Destruction

However, there is another reason to recycle your computer through a reputable institution, such as ours: Personal data. Too many people do not understand how to correctly wipe their computer drives, meaning that a tech-savvy stranger who happens upon your discarded computer can learn private information.

We ensure total data destruction using a data-wiping DoD 5220.22-M compliant software and will provide a Certificate of Data Destruction upon request. This service is offered at a cost of $10 per hard drive, affirming our commitment to both security and affordability.
